Drew started his accounting career in the summer of 2011 working for the public accounting firm Monroe Shine & Co., Inc. As a staff accountant, Drew spent much of his time balanced between tax preparation and audit fieldwork. Drew gained knowledge for tax preparation for individuals, as well as many different types of businesses. He also participated in the audit of financial institutions, rural electric companies, non-profit organizations, and other types of industries.
Joining The Haynes Company at the end of 2012, Drew worked under his Dad, Richard (who founded the company in 1998). Together they were able to grow the company by taking what Richard had built and improving processes and communication to make the company even more efficient. Drew eventually took over the business in January 2019 allowing his dad to fully retire.
Since taking over, Drew has continued to take what he learned from his dad and strives to improve each year to ensure he is providing the best possible accounting and tax services to his clients.
Drew is an Enrolled Agent (EA). As an EA, he has the privilege of representing tax payers before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). EA status is the highest credential that the IRS awards. EA’s are unrestricted as to which taxpayers they can represent, what types of tax matters they can handle, and which IRS office they can represent clients before.
